Lucy M. Murdie, 86, native of DeKalb
Canton – Lucy M. Murdie, 86, of State Hwy 68, died Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 4, 2013 from 3-5 PM at the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton. Her funeral will be held on Sunday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Michael H. Terrell officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Canton.
Lucy was born March 7, 1927, at the home farm in the town of DeKalb. She was a daughter of the late Loys and Jessie (Culbertson) Noble. She attended Eddy Grade School on the Eddy Road, and then attended Canton High School.
On November 26, 1947, she married Roger A. Murdie at her parent’s home, The Noble Farm, in DeKalb. The couple were married 65 years.
Lucy enjoyed helping on the farm, where she had a large vegetable garden and liked feeding the wild birds. During the summer months, she enjoyed driving into town where she and her husband, Roger, would get ice cream. She was a passionate Professional Wrestling fan and enjoyed time spent with her loving family.
Surviving are her husband Roger of Canton; four sons and daughters-in-law, Roger & Shirley of Canton, Reggie & Cindy of Canton, Randy & Lorelei of Colton and Ron & Sally of Colton; two sisters, Viola Noble of DeKalb and Janice Sibbitts of Canton; four brothers, Keith “Popeye” Noble and companion “Snookie” of Canton, Weldon Noble and wife Roxanne of DeKalb and Merle Noble and wife Dancy of DeKalb; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Lucy was predeceased by her son Robert (1972), her grandson Eric (2008) and by four brothers and a sister.
