Gouverneur – Malcolm David Sigourney, 68, passed away Monday at his home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 24th at 11:00 am at the Trinity Episcopal Church, Gouverneur with Rev. Gregory Bailey officiating and burial in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur.

Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur.

David was born September 15, 1944 in Gouverneur, the son of Malcolm and Doris Love Sigourney.

He graduated from Gouverneur High School in 1962 and graduated from Mohawk Valley in 1964 with a degree in Business and Economics. David served in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. Upon discharge from the service, David attended Syracuse University on a scholarship.

On September 27, 1969, David married Bethany “Bosh” Besaw at the First United Methodist Church, Gouverneur with Rev. Stanley E. Brown officiating.

Dave was employed at P&C Supermarket, American Beneficial Finance and St. Joe Mineral Company. He also worked at Graham Construction Company, Farley Equipment Company, and most recently for Gouverneur Central Schools.

Dave belonged to several organizations including the Gouverneur Elks Lodge, Gouverneur Bowling Association along with the 700 Club, and Gouverneur Country Club. He also belonged to Trinity Episcopal Church, Gouverneur Vol. Fire Department, Mouldy Pond Hunting Club, and Gouverneur Masonic Lodge. David served as a coach in the youth bowling association for over 30 years. He enjoyed bowling, golf, hunting, and fishing.

David is survived by his wife Bethany “Bosh”, a daughter Kristen M. and Chad Dubiski of Woodstock, GA, a son Matthew D. and Emily Sigourney of Dallas, GA, 4 grandchildren, Joshua and Jacob Pijut, Max and Elliot Sigourney.

He is also survived by two sisters, Donna and Dean Phipps of Marysville, WA, Carol and Terry Breckenridge of Gouverneur, several nieces and nephews.

Dave is predeceased by his parents and a daughter, Sara Jean Sigourney.

Memorial donations may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church or a charity of one’s choice.
