Marceline “Marcy” Heaslip Sears, 84, of Carthage
Carthage - Marceline “Marcy” Heaslip Sears, 84, died Saturday evening, June 15, 2013 at the Country Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she had been a resident since 2010.
Born March 28, 1928 in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Clark & Katherine Traynor Heaslip, she attended school in Watertown. She married Ralph Sears on June 15, 1951 at the Hope Presbyterian Church in Watertown. Mr. Sears died on May 10, 1971.
She worked as a lunch monitor for the West Carthage Elementary School as well as being a homemaker. She was active in a bowling league as well as Weight Watchers. She loved cooking, especially making chicken and biscuits for dinners at the Bethany Methodist Church, and she enjoyed playing cards. After the death of her husband, she devoted her life to her three sons.
Mrs. Sears is survived by two sons, Wayne and his wife Karen Sears, Cary, North Carolina and Terry and his wife Carol Sears, Great Falls, Montana. Her son Gary Allen Sears is predeceased. She had the opportunity to attend a Hawaiian Cruise with him before his death.
Also surviving are her grandchildren Brandon and Tammy Sears, Montana, Amber Osbourne, Great Falls, Montana, Christy Cifers, Raleigh, North Carolina and Laura Gardner, Elizabeth City, North Carolina, and her 11 great grandchildren, Kaleb, Connor, Matthew, Brendan, Sonia, Braeden, Abigail, Preston, Benjamin, Alexander and Katherine.
A funeral service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday evening in the Chapel of the Lundy Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc., 500 State St., Carthage with the Rev. Linda J. Harris, officiating.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 20 at 1:00 PM at Fairview Cemetery, Carthage.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, prior to the service from 3:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
