Margaret A Strough, 78, of Alexandria BayALEXANDRIA BAY, NY – Margaret A Strough, 78, of 61 Anthony St, died Wednesday evening, June 20th, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Ogdensburg, where she had been a patient since June 12th. Born July 14, 1933 in Jay, NY, daughter of Cecil and Anna Mullarney, she was educated in Alexandria Bay schools. She married Lloyd P. Strough on June 6, 1953 at the Methodist Church in Alexandria Bay. Margaret worked for several different businesses in the Alexandria Bay area over the years, most recently at the Otter Creek Inn. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a former Cub Scout den mother, and enjoyed playing bingo. Besides her husband Lloyd, she is survived by a son, James and a daughter, Mrs. Michael (Susan) Putnam, both of Alexandria Bay, four sisters, Jean Crosby and Hilda Hewitt, both of Syracuse, Sally Whitney, Philadelphia, NY, and Gail Orr, Cleveland, OH, six grandchildren and one great grandson. She was predeceased by a son, Randy, a sister Nancy Manning, and a brother James Collins, who died as an infant. Calling hours will be Sunday evening from 6 to 9 pm at the Costello Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11am Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Barnes Settlement Cemetery, Alexandria Bay. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of St. Lawrence County. |
