Mass of Christian Burial for Marie D. Christy, 81, of State St. in Canton will be held Thursday morning November 15, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Church in Canton, with Rev. Douglas Lucia celebrating.

Marie passed away Monday at her home in Canton.

 Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home in Canton Wednesday afternoon and evening 2-4 and 7-9. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton, NY

Marie Christy was born February 11, 1931 in Providence, RI the daughter of Henry and Mary Keleher Demers. She graduated from Lyons Falls High School in 1949. She graduated from Syracuse School of Business in 1950.  She  married Walter Christy in Syracuse on September 22, 1956. They moved to Canton in 1964. She  worked as the administrative Assistant for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department and  also the Village and Town Court Clerk retiring in 1992.

She was on the Board of the Canton Library.

Among her survivors are her husband Walter, sons: Michael and Jorja Christy of Canton, Robert and Kathy Christy of Pierrepont, Richard Christy of Canton, daughters: Mary Beth and Charles Burnham of Canton, and Kathleen and Scott Matukas of Syracuse. Also 17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by one son,Jim Christy and one sister, Rose Dowling and one brother, Hank Demers; also a daughter-in-law, Michelle Christy

She belonged to St. Mary’s Alter Rosary Society, St. Lawrence Golf and Country Club, She loved  golf, knitting reading, bridge playing, and raising her children.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to New York City Covenant House, Agerwal Renal Center or the Canton Free Library.
