Marlene H. Arquette, 78, of Hogansburg
Hogansburg - Mrs. Marlene H. Arquette, 78, 378 State Route 37, peacefully passed away this morning, November 23, 2012, at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Marlene was born August 27, 1934, in Hogansburg, the daughter of Mitchel L. and Elizabeth Cook Jacobs. She attended the St. Regis Mohawk School, and graduated from Massena High School in 1953. She also attended Mater Dei College. On May 31, 1959 she married Francis Arquette, at the St. Regis Catholic Church, he predeceased her on January 31, 1993.
Marlene first worked in Rochester for Eastman Kodak, and upon her return home in 1974, she went to work for Levi’s in Cornwall; then as a Home Health Aide for North Country Services, and then worked as an Out Reach Person for the St. Regis Mohawk for the Aging until her retirement.
Marlene was a communicant of St. Regis Catholic Church, and a member of the Hogansburg Senior Citizens, Franklin County RSVP, she was a Library Board Member, past President of the St. Regis Mohawk Education Committee, and a former member of the Salmon River Central School board.
She loved her grandchildren dearly, loved going for long walks. Marlene always enjoyed travelling to many, many places and took several cruises. She also enjoyed reading, water aerobics, attending sporting events, and loved watching football, and hockey. She was also a volunteer at the Senior Citizens for bingo.
Marlene is survived by her children, Steven and June Arquette of Rochester; Mary Arquette of Akwesasne; David and Mary Arquette of Akwesasne; John Arquette of Georgia; Craig Arquette of Akwesasne; and a chosen son, Angus Jacobs of Akwesasne; and ten grandchildren, and three sisters, Mary Catalino of Stoughton, MA, Ida and Ronald Thomas, and Shirley Arquette, all of St. Regis Village; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Harry T. Jacobs on February 12, 1990.
Friends may call at The Homemakers, Snye, QE, starting at 2:00 PM on Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Regis Catholic Church, Monday at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Hogansburg.
