Mary Ann Martin, 84, Broadway Avenue West, Watertown, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at Cummings Funeral Service, Inc., Watertown on Monday, May 20, at noon with Rev. Steven Murray, of Holy Family Church, officiating and burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Mrs. Martin was born in Watertown on March 9, 1929, daughter of Francis and Helen Ryan Lyng. She graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy and the Watertown School of Commerce.
On June 30, 1951, she married Louis E. Martin at St. Patrick's Church.
She was a homemaker, and had worked for the Agricultural Insurance Co. as a secretary. Mary Ann was a communicant of Holy Family Church and a past member of its Altar & Rosary Society.
She was a former member of the Home Bureau, and enjoyed reading ,visiting with friends and spending time with family. The couple wintered in Myrtle Beach for many years.
Besides her husband, Louis, she is survived by her two sons, Dr. Thomas P. Martin, Coeur D'Alene, ID and John M. Martin, Saratoga Springs; her two daughters, Karen A. Keegan and husband, Gregory J., and Mary A. VanBrocklin, all of Watertown; five grandchildren, Christopher and Shawn VanBrocklin, Matthew Keegan, and Alexandra and Jonathan Martin; one great granddaughter, Jocelyn VanBrocklin; sister-in-law, Keitha Marks and husband, Howard; brother-in-law, Frank Mihalik; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donations in her name may be made to either Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham St. or Sisters of St. Joseph, 1425 Washington St., both in Watertown, NY 13601.
