Mary H. Alteri, 88, formerly of 158 Cedar Street and Mercy of Northern New York, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the Samaritan Keep Home.

Mrs. Alteri was born November 13, 1924 in Watertown a daughter of Jack and Sarah Palmer Leva. She attended local schools. On September 2, 1946 she married Rocco Alteri at St. Anthony’s Church with Monsignor Claude Sechi officiating.

Mrs. Alteri was employed with Morgia’s Restaurant as a waitress, Faichney’s Thermometer Co., Smith and Percy, Boys and Men’s Specialty Store and Pelman’s until they closed. She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church where she volunteered at the Mount Carmel Fest, the Spaghetti Suppers and was a charter member of the Altar Rosary Society.

She was a member of the Italian American Civic Association and volunteered as a waitress. She enjoyed bowling, bocce and puzzles.

Surviving besides her husband are a son Michael, Adams, a daughter and her husband Roxanne and Roy Avery, Tarpin Springs, FL., a sister Viola Pecori, Melbourne, FL., four grandchildren, six great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Three brothers, Nick, Arthur, Joe and a sister Sally Mentry died before her.

Calling hours will be Thurday 3-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Friday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Donald Robinson officiating.

Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
