Maxine W. Nafziger, 79, of Lowville

LOWVILLE- A memorial service for Maxine W. Nafziger, 79, Railroad St. will be held 10:30 AM Thursday June 28th, at the First Mennonite Church of New Bremen with the Rev. Bruce Chartrand, pastor officiating. Burial will be private in the church cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday June 27th from 6-9 PM at the Adirondack Funeral Home, Croghan.

Mrs. Nafziger died Saturday morning in the emergency room at Lewis County General Hospital.

She was born June 21, 1933 in Castorland to Leon and Katherine Lehman Widrick. She attended Beaver River Central School. She married Vernon Nafziger June 10, 1954 at the First Mennonite Church of New Bremen. He died November 2, 2009. She worked at Climax in Castorland early on, took care of foster children and was a home caregiver.

She enjoyed travelling, spending time with family, attending bluegrass festivals and playing cards.

She is survived by two children, Stephen, Greenville SC and Lori and Scott Snyder, Lowville. She also has two brothers and their wives, Doug and Frances, Mt. Bethel PA, and Glenn and Anna Margie, Croghan. She also has two sisters and a brother in law, Imelda Hills, Lowville and Betty and Norman Yousey, Castorland. She has nine grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

She is also survived by three sisters in law and a brother in law and his wife, Betty Widrick,  Lowville, Ruth Widrick, Beaver Falls. Shirley Steria, Lowville and  Warren and Elsie Nafziger, Martinsburg.

She is predeceased by a daughter in law, Bobbie Jean Nafziger, two brothers, Derwood and Gerald, and a brother in law Ronald Hills.
