Michael F. Ryan Sr., 83 of Watertown

Michael F. Ryan Sr., 83, of 116 Casey St., Watertown, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2012 at the Samaritan Medical Center following a brief illness.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wed., May 9th at the Watertown Assembly of God with his son Rev. Michael F. Ryan Jr., officiating, Burial with military honors will follow at the N. Watertown Cemetery.

Calling hours will be 5-8 p.m. Tues., May 8th at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

Mr. Ryan was born on April 10, 1929 son of Patrick and Olive Campbell Ryan. He entered the US Navy in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949.

He married Jean C. Beach on November 4, 1949 and their marriage was blessed at St. Patrick’s Church. Mrs. Ryan is homemaker.

Mr. Ryan went on to work for CMX a short time. He then worked for the Watertown Department of Public Works. While there he was head mechanic, a heavy equipment operator, snowplow operator and retired after 32 years of service, in 1984, as Forman.

He had been a member of the Watertown Assembly of God for 38 years. He is a former musician, head usher and board member for the church. He enjoyed repairing lawn mowers, playing the harmonica, horse shoes and spending time with his family.

Among his survivors are his beautiful, loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Jean C. Ryan; a daughter and son in law, Kathy A. and George Demar; three sons and three daughters in law, Rev. Michael F. and Judy Ryan Jr., Patrick J. and Trudy Ryan, Ricky and Rebecca Ryan, all from Watertown; two brothers and sisters in law, Francis and Mable Ryan, Theresa, NY, Bernard and Chris Ryan, Adams Center, NY; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, eight nieces, eleven nephews, many cousins and friends.

A son Steven M. Ryan passed at the age of five in a motor vehicle accident. A brother Robert Ryan and a sister Jean Sharp both passed before him.

Mr. Ryan was a truly wonderful and amazing man who was loved and adored by all his family and will be greatly missed.
