The funeral mass for Michael R. Forcier will be Wednesday, June 25, 11:00am, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clayton, Father LaBaff officiating. Burial will be 2:00pm July 11, 2014 at St. Philip Neri Cemetery, Westport.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 24, 3:00-7:00pm at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home, Watertown.

Michael died at his residence of Lou Gehrig's Disease on June 17 while under the care of his wife, Elaine and Hospice of Jefferson County. He was 58 years old.

He was born in Plattsburgh October 19, 1955, a son to Gerald and Doris Crossman Forcier. He was educated locally. Following graduation he received his bachelor's degree from Union college. He then completed 2 years of law school at Capital University, Ohio, and a clerkship with Tim Tippins.  Michael was admitted to the bar in 1988 and was a practicing attorney until his diagnosis in 2012.

On June 11, 2004 he married Elaine Wynn Hudgens.  He enjoyed climbing the high peaks in the Adirondacks, hunting, golfing, dancing, ice fishing, skiing, and socializing with friends. It is said the he "never met a stranger".

Michael was involved with numerous organizations: life-member and past Exalted Ruler of Watertown Elks Lodge 496, past President of AUSA (Association of the United States Army), past President of the Hospice Foundation Board, past member of the Jefferson Community College Foundation Board, past member of the Children's Clinic Board, past United Way Campaign Chairman, past Jefferson County Bar Association member, and was also a Paul Fellows Rotarian. He was also a member of the Initial Attack Team, and a certified Master Diver & Rescue Diver.

Michael was a volunteer fireman for 25 years in his hometown of Westport, NY. He also started the Rescue Dive Team, and was its Captain for many years. He later joined the Wellesley Island Volunteer Fire Department upon moving there.

Following Michael's diagnosis of ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) he started a bucket list. Some of the items he completed included: hunting trips to Alaska and Colorado with good friends, and traveling cross- country with his wife, Elaine for a month experiencing things they had always wanted to do.

Surviving beside his wife, Elaine, and father, Gerald R. (Jean) Forcier, Sr., are 6 children: Michael F., Bradley C., Liam J., Frances E. "Frankie", Queensbury, Laci K. Hudgens, Haley M. Hudgens, Jacksonville; a grandson: Jack T. Hudgens; 3 brothers: James P. (Alana), Westport, Joseph J., Chazy, Gerald R. Jr., Geneva; 2 sisters: Mary Jane (Bill) Powell, Albany, Anne E., Saratoga; 9 nieces and nephews, 8 grand-nieces and nephews, and many dear, dear friends.

Also surviving Michael are his loved extended family of in-laws: J.W. (Kathleen) Wynn, Charlotte (Mike) Maret, Cindy (Jimmy) Pfister, Rita Wynn, Jacksonville.

Besides his mother, Doris, he is pre-deceased by his first grandson, Sawyer Wynn Hudgens-Clark.
