Michelina ”Mickey” Resner, 86, of Natural DamNatural Dam – Michelina ”Mickey” Resner, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at her home. Funeral services are private with the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur. Michelina was born November 20, 1926 in New Rochelle, NY, the daughter of Vito and Rachele Scoca Rizzo. She graduated from New Rochelle High School in 1944. On June 8, 1947, Mickey married Edward G. Resner. Mickey worked as a waitress and more recently was a home healthcare aide for the elderly. The couple purchased Gouverneur Morris Mansion in Natural Dam in 1986 and moved there in 1990. Mr. Resner passed away August 27, 2004. Mickey enjoyed reading, dancing, gardening, and crafting. She loved children and also helped organize a local chapter of the Red Hats Society. Mickey was quick to smile and laugh and was adored by friends and family, all of whom were blessed by her joie de vivre and unique sense of humor. Mickey is survived by three daughters: Karen and Dwight Rubertello of Harrells, NC, Kathy Clobridge of Harwich, MA, and Joan Kingdon of Natural Dam, with whom she lived for many years. She is also survived by four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two sisters, Madeline Bollmann of Heritage Village, CT, her twin sister Angelina Resner of Shelton, CT, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, her parents, a sister Vincenza Groom, and a brother, Joseph Rizzo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Lawrence Valley Renewal House, 3 Chapel Street, Canton, NY 13617. |
