Nazareno L. "Naz" Marconi, 82, of Watertown


Nazareno L. “Naz” Marconi, 82, 506 Elmore Lane, Ives Hill, died Monday at Samaritan Medical Center.

Mr. Marconi was born January 22, 1932 in Watertown, a son of Santo and Anna Palladino Marconi. In 1948 he graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1952. On August 27, 1955 he married Angelina C. Pecori at St. Anthony’s Church, with Reverend Dennis E. Lynch officiating.

Mr. Marconi worked in the Materials Planning Department  at the New York Air Brake, retiring in 1995 as a Master Scheduler after 43 years of service. Mr. Marconi also worked at the Hotel Woodruff, Public Square, for several years, assisting Mr. Marconi’s brothers, Angelo and Orlando (Bill).  Mr. Marconi and his wife ran the Ives Hill Country Club restaurant with Mr. Marconi’s brother and sister-in-law, Chef Angelo and Mary Marconi in 1972. The four continued working together, operating the former Judy’s Wishing Well Restaurant for a time.

Mr. Marconi was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge, the American Legion Post #61 and the Italian American Civic Association, where he was also a past president. Mr. Marconi was a member of the Watertown Golf Club for many years. He enjoyed the New York Yankees, New York Giants and Syracuse University Basketball.

Surviving besides his wife Angelina are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Deborah of Watertown; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy Ann and Jack Kane, Western Springs, Il. and Paula J. Marconi, Watertown; four grandchildren, Nicole Marie Marconi, David “DJ” Marconi, Brendan Kane, Adam Kane; one great grandson, Connor Leone; several  nieces and nephews,

Five brothers, Carmen, Angelo, Orlando (Bill), Victor, William (Willie) and two sisters, Perina Bocciolatt, Claudina Kiebzak, died before him.

Calling hours will be Friday from 3-7pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10:15 am at the funeral home with an 11 am funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Church with Reverend Vincent Freeh officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors.
