Pierre (Pete) H. Wallack, 78, of Clayton
Mr. Pierre (Pete) H. Wallack, age 78, of Clayton, died Monday evening at his residence. There will be a private service at the convenience of the family.
Pete was born March 12, 1934, in Elizabeth New Jersey, the son of Lester and Dorothy Manning Wallack. He graduated from Blair Academy in New Jersey in 1952. He received his B.A. Degree from Providence College in Rhode Island and also graduated with a Master’s Degree in U.S. History in 1963 from Colgate University.
He married the former Ellen Demo August 15, 1964 in Croghan, NY. The marriage ended in divorce but they remained friends and talked every day.
Pete enlisted in the United States Army, where he served from 1956- 1959. While in the Army, he was a Chinese Lindquist while serving with the Army Security Agency. He retired in 1989, after 26 years as a history teacher at Beaver River Central School, where he taught grades 9 – 12.
While a teacher at Beaver River, he started the track and cross country team, of which he coached for many years.
He was a former member of the Clayton Senior Golf League.
Pete enjoyed being a miniaturist, where he reproduced period furniture in miniature form. He also was a former New Jersey State Champ and New England AAU Champ in Track and Cross Country.
Surviving are two sons, Matthew (Lori) of Lowville and Eric and his companion Denise Smith of Ohio; one grandchild Madison; nieces, nephews and cousins.
One brother, Lester Jr., died before him.
