Raymond “Bud” C. Losey, 81, of Massena


Massena – After a lengthy illness, Raymond “Bud” C. Losey, 81, of 82 Chase Street, passed away early Friday morning, June 28, 2013, at the St. Regis Nursing Home, where he had been a resident for the past week.

Bud was born September 19, 1931, in Massena, the son of James and Mabel Countryman Losey.  He was a graduate of Massena High School. On May 23, 1952 he entered the US Army, where he served until his honorable discharge on October 6, 1953. Bud then married Margaret F. Morrow, on June 30, 1956, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Charles Bowen Persell, Jr., officiating.

Raymond was a furnace operator at Alcoa for 42 years, retiring January 1, 1993.  He was a very active, 58 year member of the Massena Fire Department, as well as a member of the American Legion Post #79 and the Massena Masonic Lodge F&AM #513, and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church. He enjoyed the fire department, his T.V., and treasured his grandchildren.

Bud is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret; three daughters, Joanne MacDonald and her companion Sherri Rivers, of Massena; Cheri and John Hatch of Massena; Sheila and Patrick Kilcoyne of Brasher Falls; six grandchildren, Chad and Vanesa Hatch; Charity Hatch and her fiancé, Scott; Erik MacDonald; Alicia Kilcoyne, and her fiancé, Jake, Jamie Kilcoyne and her fiancé, Jake; and Cody Kilcoyne. He is also survived by his sister, Jean O’Neil of Massena; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son James E. Losey, on September 2, 1977; his brother Howard F. Losey, on October 8, 1980; and his sister Freta A. McDonald, on October 14, 2002.

Friends may call Monday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena.  The member of the American Legion will meet at 7:15 p.m., followed by the members of the Massena Fire Department at 7:30 p.m., for memorial rituals.

Funeral services with full fireman’s honors will be held Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, with Mother Elizabeth Papazoglakis officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Bud, to the Massena Fire Department.
