The funeral for Mr. Robert L. Brown Sr. will be at noon Sunday at T.R. Jetty Funeral Home with the Reverend D.L. Marshall officiating. Burial will be on Grindstone Island Saturday April 21st at a time to be announced.

Calling hours will be this Saturday from 4-8pm at the funeral home.

Bob was born July 17th, 1931 on Grindstone Island the son of Ernest and Frances Carnegie Brown. He attended island schools. A marriage to the former Terrie Thornton ended in divorce. Bob enlisted in the United States Army in October of 1950 and was honorably discharged in June of 1952. After his military service he worked for 2 years as the postmaster on Frontenac Island, he then worked for over 16 years at Mercers Shipyard.

After Mercers he went to work at Calumet Island Marina for 7 years and then worked for St. Lawrence Restoration until his retirement. Also during his work years he worked on and off at Clayton Marble with his boss and friend Hank Paprocki. After his retirement he moved to Florida and worked part time as a security guard.

Bob was a member of the Clayton American Legion Colon-Couch Post 821 for over 61 years where he also served on the Color Guard for many years.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Lynnette (Ron) Duford of Clayton; Michelle Youngs and her companion Rick Fitzsimmons of Clayton; Three sons Robert Jr. and his companion Kim Wilson of Pamelia; Scott (Carol) and Judson (Lisa) all of Florida; Ten grandchildren and two great grandsons; one brother John of Clayton, two sisters, Mary Garnsey of Clayton and Jessie Hill of Florida; nieces and nephews.

One brother, Junie Brown, died before him.
