Shirley A. Kehoe,73, Washington Street, Watertown, passed away August  9, 2014, at University Hospital, Syracuse.

Mrs. Kehoe was born January 13, 1941, in Carthage, a daughter of Howard and Alice Wells Shettleton. She graduated from Carthage Central High School, and cosmetology school in Watertown and attended Syracuse University.  On October 29, 1960 she married Myron C. Kehoe, Sr, of Copenhagen, at St. James Church in Carthage. Mr. Kehoe died December 3, 1992. 

Shirley was a professional hair stylist and operated her own business while raising her young family on Flower Avenue West in Watertown. Later, the family moved to Syracuse where she was the office manager in the family business, Affordable McLaughlin-Kehoe Insurance. After the death of her husband, Myron, she returned to Watertown and made her home on Washington Street from where she owned and operated properties in the Watertown area and Daytona Beach, including the Riverfront Station, the former Levis House, in Carthage. Shirley was a former member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and a follower of Blue Grass Festivals. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church.

Shirley was a very selfless and kind-hearted person and gave generously to all those who she thought to be less fortunate than herself. Countless friends, relatives, tenants and strangers were the beneficiaries of her great generosity.  Despite many sadness’s in her life Shirley was always positive and upbeat and always pushing her children and all those around her to be the same. She loved to have her children, grandchildren, family and friends around, the more the merrier. Shirley carefully guarded her secret meatball recipe. Shirley was an inveterate matchmaker, and hated to see anyone remain single.

Surviving are: her companion of twenty one year’s Robert A. Harris, three sons and their spouses, Myron C. Jr.(Sherri), Watertown; Jeffrey P.( fiancé Laurie McDonald-Besheone), Liverpool; Shawn P.( Ann Marie), Cicero; a brother, Carleton “Buddy” (late Latifee); a sister, Linda (Gerald)  Allen; ten grandchildren, one great grandson, several nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law. 

She was predeceased, by a daughter Sherry A. (Robert) Kehoe-Edick ; two brothers,Kenneth (Clara) Shettleton and Keith (Cathy) Shettleton; and a sister  Carol and brother-in-law Norbert Schneider.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home ,Inc.  A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with a 10 am funeral mass at St. Patrick’s Church. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
