Mass of Christian Burial for Terry L. Whitman, 42, of Canton will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 11:00am at the St. Mary’s Church, Canton with Rev. Douglas J. Lucia, Celebrating. Burial will be in the White Church Cemetery, Crary Mills. Terry died on Sunday, January 20 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

Friends may call at the O’Leary Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. The family requests donations to St. Mary’s School, Jewels of Life Foundation, Hospice and Palliative Care or the SPCA.
Terry is survived by her daughter, Morgan, at home; her mother and father, Grace and Ronald Whitman of Canton; by a brother, Tom of Canton; a niece and

, Carlie and Coleman Whitman; and aunts and uncles.

Terry was born February 11, 1970, the daughter of Ronald and Grace (Coleman) Whitman. She graduated from Canton Central School in 1988 and from Canton College in 1990 with a degree in Criminal Justice. She was a recipient of the St. Lawrence County Sherriff’s Association Scholarship.

Terry was an officer at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility for 17 years.
Terry was a member of the Blue Finn Diving Club, a Marshal for the St. Lawrence County Junior Carp Tournament; she coached the St. Mary’s Girls Basketball Team; she enjoyed fishing, snowmobiling, horses, dogs, cats and camping. She was also a communicant of St. Mary’s Church of Canton.
