Vernon L. Arno, 71, of MassenaMassena - Vernon L. Arno of Massena, 71, passed away on May 8, 2012 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Vernon was a truck driver working for Waste Stream Management. Vernon was born on August 8, 1940 in Norwood, NY, the son of Albert and Eleanor (Oaks) Arno. He proudly served in the US Marine Corps. Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Helen, a son, Randy and Pam Arno of Henrietta, NY: Kammy and Bill Heaster of Geneva, NY: and Tammy Arno of Rochester, NY; brothers Robert and Nancy Arno of Taberg, NY: Albert and Sharlene Arno of Louisville, NY; Chris and Shirley Arno of Canton, NY: Kendrick Arno of Louisville, NY:sisters, Carol and Ronald McDonald of Minoa, NY: Linda and Doug Smith of The Villages, FL. four step children, Mark and Darla LaShomb of Odessa, TX: Carol LaShomb of Massena, NY: Ronald and Disa LaShomb of Murietta, CA: Kevin LaShomb of Ogdensburg, NY: five grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and one step great granddaughter, along with many nieces and nephews. He was a lifetime member of AmVets Post #4. Vernon loved being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and camping since his early boyhood. He enjoyed going to the Via Main Restaurant and visiting with his friends there. Vernon was always cheerful and ready with a joke to make people laugh. Memorial service will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
