William F. Morley, Jr., 80, of Ogdensburg


OGDENSBURG, NY – William F. Morley, Jr. of State Hwy 37, Ogdensburg, NY & Barefoot Bay, FL passed away Monday, November 19th, at his home surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21st, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, NY with Reverend Jay Seymour officiating.

Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Calling hours will be Tuesday, Nov. 20th at Frary Funeral Home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

Mr. Morley was born in Ogdensburg, N.Y. on January 5, 1932, the son of William and Bernadette (Carter) Morley.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marie (Seymour); eight children, Timothy Morley and his wife Pamela;  William Morley;   Kathleen Donaldson and her husband Dale;  Peggy Garrison and her husband Spencer;  all of Ogdensburg;  Nancy Hollis and her husband Kirk of Monroe, New York;  Michael Morley and his wife Dolly, Waxhaw, North Carolina;  Susan Morley, of Liverpool, New York; and Amy Rose Sommer and her husband Gregg, of Elbridge, New York; 16 grandchildren:  Matthew Morley, Sara Jeanault, Marc Morley, Gregory Hollis, Patricia Walker, Brooke Wears, Angela McLear, Jebadiah Brenno, Andrew Johnson, William L. Morley Jr., Stephen Hollis, Christina Hollis, Jake Garrison, Carly Garrison, Kelsi Donaldson, and Colton Sommer; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two brothers, Lawrence (Broc) Morley and his wife Patricia, of Ogdensburg; Henry Morley, of Texas; two sisters, Mary Catherine Weathers, of Florida; and Gail Beabes, of Pennsylvania; his in-laws Rose Seymour, Robert and Clara Seymour;  Barbara Seymour; Thomas and Anna DuPre´, Janet Seymour, Ellen Bova and William and Mary Ellen Seymour;  all of Ogdensburg.

He was predeceased by in-laws James Seymour, Thomas Seymour, David Seymour, Herman Bova, Memory Morley, Alan Weathers and Frank Beabes.

Bill was a graduate of Ogdensburg Free Academy Class of 1950, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from Niagara University.  He married Marie Seymour on November 27, 1954, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg, NY with the Reverend Francis White officiating.

While  a senior in high school he joined the Northern New York Bricklayer & Mason’s Union and his first job as an apprentice was in 1950 during the construction of St. Mary’s Cathedral.  After graduating from college he joined the family business, William F. Morley & Sons. Upon the retirement of his father, he started Morley Construction Incorporated with his brother, Broc.

During his career, his construction projects included many landmarks throughout Northern New York including John F. Kennedy School, Grant C. Madill School, Ogdensburg Free Academy, Hackett’s Hardware, St. Joseph’s Home, Ogdensburg Elk’s Club, Pepsi, Ogdensburg Rescue Squad, The Remington Art Museum and Mater Dei College. He retired from the construction business in 1997 and received his 50 year union pin in 2005.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and family outings to Big Tupper Ski Area. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on the St. Lawrence River.
