William F. Wooding, 61, of Campbell Street, Lowville, died Saturday morning, March 23, 2013 at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse.
The funeral service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, with Rev. Leon “Toby” Schilling, Director of Pastoral Care at Samaritan Medical Center, officiating. A graveside service with Military Honors will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery, Syracuse, on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Calling hours are from 4 - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. An Elks service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, during calling hours. He is survived by his wife of over 31 years, Ann; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Daniel Wooding and his companion Victoria Inting of New York, NY; Erik and Rosemary Wooding of New York, NY; his mother, Elsie Messick of Hemet, CA; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Sandy Wooding of South Glens Falls, NY; Wayne and Lisa Wooding of Irvine, CA; Robert and Shannon Wooding of Orange, CA; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Edwin C. Wooding.
Bill was born on March 30, 1951 in Honolulu, HI, a son of the late Edwin C. Wooding and Elsie Mae Smith Wooding. He attended elementary school in Hawaii and Germany, and attended high school in Paris before graduating from West Genesee High School in Syracuse. Following graduation, Bill entered the Army National Guard. He graduated from Onondaga Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Engineering, and worked as a lab assistant at Onondaga Community College. On October 17, 1981, he married Ann M. Case at St. Peter’s Church in Split Rock, NY. Bill received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing from Onondaga Community College, and worked as a Registered Nurse at Community Hospital in Syracuse and at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica as a critical care nurse before working at Samaritan Medical Center, where he has worked for the past 13 years.
Bill was a member and Past Exalted Ruler (2010 - 2011) of B.P.O.E. #1605, Lowville Lodge. He was a past Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 162, was a member of Lewis County Search and Rescue, and a member of Sons of the American Legion.
He enjoyed skiing, camping, and spending time at his family camp on Lake Ontario.
