How to live a Life
SAG, the professional actors union for film and television, announced two weeks ago that they are bestowing their life time achievement award on the Dazzling Betty White.
All Hail this decision! They got it right this time. Betty White has been in the business for about six decades and at 87 years old, is still acting and making films. She just wrapped the film, “You Again” and earlier this year played Sandra Bullock’s hysterical grandmother in the box office hit, “The Proposal.”
White is best known for her illustrious television career where she has won an impressive six Emmy Awards and has been nominated for a staggering total of 19, and she isn’t done yet.
Her two most famous television characters are the pant chasing Sue Nivens (The Happy Homemaker) from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and the naïve and sweet Rose Nylund from the hugely popular “The Golden Girls.”These two characters from two of televisions most famous sitcoms were made iconic by Betty White’s incredibly deft comic timing and delivery.
Not only is she a terrific comedienne, she has given to society in many ways with her charity work.A huge animal advocate she also did much charity work that benefited humans in this world. Forever sunny and saucy, Betty White appears to have a genuine deep soul and never takes life for granted. On a recent episode of “The Bonnie Hunt Show” she spoke of gratefulness and living life in the moment, without regrets. She said (paraphrasing) – I couldn’t possibly complain about any of it.
I loved Betty White in “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”
Here are a few of my favorite Sue Ann Nivens lines:
Sue Ann: I was lying in bed last night and I couldn't sleep, and I came up with an idea. So I went right home and wrote it down.
Sue Ann: I hope I’m not disturbing you.
Mary: I was in bed.
Sue Ann: Oh good. Then you’re alone!
Murray: Being fired is like being violated!
Sue Ann: Leave it to Murray to find a bright spot in all this.
