Glee Fan Club

A new episode of Glee is on tonight on FOX 9pm. This show is fast growing its fan base.  It’s quirky, entertaining and musically invigorating.  I love the covers its characters’ perform of famous pop or rock hits.  Last week’s sad cover of Billy Idol’s “Dancing By Myself” music video over the opening credits of the show was amazing.  Artie wheels around the school in a wheelchair singing the song, after feeling rejected and isolated.  It’s poignant and a great reinvention of an old rock song, turning into it a character ballad that conveys emotion and need.  This is what makes the show great.  No other show on television uses music so emotionally.  The musical numbers also drive the plot. 

Fresh characters, great musical numbers and fantastic actors, this lively FOX musicom (musical + sitcom) is on my weekly bucket list.
