The Opera is coming to town

The Met's award-winning series, The Met: Live in HD, continues this winter with the encore performance of Jacques Offenbach's Les Contes D'Hoffmann. Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher (South Pacific, Light in the Piazza) directs this new production.

PHOTOGRAPHY
The St. Lawrence County Arts Council will open a new exhibit entitled “North Country Hands at Work” with an opening reception on Saturday, January 30th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
“North Country Hands at Work” is a photographic documentary focusing on the hands and art made by ten artists and craftsmen from Northern New York. This series of black and white portraits by Hannah Stevens was the culmination of her undergraduate study at College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, ME.

Photographs of North Country artists in this series include silversmiths Pat and Butch Bramhall, weaver Cait Throop, boat builder Everett Smith, fiber artist Jody Horowitz, blacksmith John Scarlett, printmaker and book artist Mark McMurray, jewelry artist Mary Harding, calligrapher Veigh Lee, and fiber artist Velma Bolyard.
All are welcome to attend the opening reception on Saturday, January 30th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the SLC Arts Council at 51 Market Street in Potsdam. The exhibit will be on display from January 30th through March 12th, 2010. The Council gift shop and gallery is open Monday through Friday 10:00am to 6:00pm and Saturday 10:00 to 4:00, and is completely wheelchair accessible.
