Blast From The Past: 1972 Protest Against 'Maude'


The television show "Maude" ran from 1972 to 1978 on CBS.  

Bea Arthur played Maude, an outspoken, middle aged, politically liberal woman, whose sometimes overbearing and domineering personality got her in trouble.

One episode on abortion was especially controversial and set off a protest outside our studio in 1972. 

Former WWNY-TV General Manager Tony Malara recounted the story during our 50th anniversary.
