TV Dinner: Apple Cashew Crisp

When you think of food for the fall, freshly harvested apples probably come to mind.

Chef Chris Manning says he'll feature apples in the next few TV Dinner segments. This week, he starts with an apple cashew crisp.

Apple Cashew Crisp

8 apples - peeled, cored and sliced
1 cup flour
1 cup brown sugar
one-half cup granulated sugar
one-third cup softened butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
one-half cup course-chopped cashews

Place half the apples in an oven-proof baking dish.

In a medium-size mixing bowl, combine the next six ingredients. Mix until it becomes a coarse crumb mixture.

Coat the apples in the baking dish with the mixture and repeat until the apples and crumb mixture are used up.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Serve warm with sharp cheese, ice cream or whipped cream. Or any combination of the three.
