TV Dinner: The Original Thousand Island Dressing

Tools

It might not be the Thousand Island dressing you're used to seeing.

After much research, Chef Chris Manning learned that the original dressing was white, not the pink we usually see.

Click on the picture to see how it goes together. Bonus: you learn the difference between Thousand Island and Russian dressings.

Thousand Island Dressing

- 1 quart mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup chopped, pitted ripe olives
- 3/4 cup sweet pickle relish
- 1/2 cup chopped red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 3 hard-boiled eggs, chopped
- 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
- Dash of ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon sugar

Mix all ingredients together. Yields a half gallon of dressing.

Serve with salad or fried fish.

Pairs well with Coyote Moon's Marquette.
