A flawless production of White Christmas at Syracuse Stage

Tools

By Craig Thornton

With a gorgeous score by one of the great American song writers, Irving Berlin, this family friendly, old style musical is highly enjoyable and technically perfect, even if it occasionally suffers from lack of plot and story.

All creative artists involved deserve recognition for their work here, including the four leads: Craig Waletzko (Phil Davis), Denis Lambert (Bob Wallace), Zakyia Young (Betty Haynes) and Mary Michael Patterson (Judy Haynes).

Supporting Cast stand outs are: Mary Jo Mecca as Martha Watson and John Sherman as Ezekiel Foster.

Fluidly directed By Paul Barnes with fantastic choreography by David Wanstreet, White Christmas has a spectacular design team.  Special notice should be made of costume designer Susan Branch Towne, whose sharp and original eye and flawless color blending do not negate her authenticity to the time period of the musical (the decade following WWII). Ms. Towne has an enormous amount of talent.

Treat yourself to something special this holiday season and see White Christmas at Syracuse Stage - now playing through December 30Th.
