American Idol Recap - Friday, March 15

By Craig Thornton

There were 26 million votes last night. Does this seem skimpy compared to previous years?

This was the first results show of the season, in the past there were 12 finalists.
In an attempt to create suspense in a year that definitely needs the rating boost, Ryan is getting specific about how votes were cast in certain parts of the country. For example Devon received the most votes in Puerto Rico and Janelle who is from Tennessee was the number one vote getter there.
Within the first quarter hour it was revealed that Candice was in the top three. This is great, and she deserves it.
Kree, after meeting the mayor from her home town is also in the top three. No surprise here, as she is fantastic. I am glad to see America is on the same page as me with her.
After Bon Jovi sang a not so good new song, there was a sing off between the number 11 and 12 idol contestants that didn’t make the finalists, for a spot on the AI national tour. It was between Charlie and Aubrey. This vote, by the American people will be revealed on Wednesday.
Angie with her beauty pageant limited vocal style also made it to the top three. Giving the top three before the bottom three is a change for Idol.
In fourth place and safe – Lazaro Arbos, who is officially the highest rated guy- Amber was fifth, but needs to be higher than that don’t you think?
#6. Janelle
Burnell is 7, so there are three men in the bottom three, as it should be.
#8. Paul Jolley
Devon and Curtis are last, last, last. Curtis is voted out, and he must sing to stay.
The judges did not use their save. I wasn’t a big Curtis fan, although he was better than Devon. Nicki threatened to go home if Curtis went home, unfortunately she didn’t keep her promise.
