American Idol Recap, Friday, May 11, 2012
Idol producers stepped up their game with one of the best opening montage sequences in a long time. The montage focused on coming home as a hero and showed the final three contestants throughout the years going home and receiving hometown idolization in the form of parades and huge crowds meeting them at airports.

The final four, Joshua, Phillip, Hollie and Jessica came out and sang “California Dreamin” originally made famous by the Mama and Pappas in 1965. It is difficult to put an original spin on a song that has been around forty-seven years. The final four took turns with singing the lyrics and for some reason Hollie lead. I held my breath in anticipation and then was immediately disappointed. The first thing I thought was: Elise and Skylar are so much better than Hollie, yet they have already gone home. This made me a little depressed. Furthermore, I suddenly realized how young all the final four are – or perhaps I just realized how old I am in comparison. This made me more depressed.
The Ford music video was done with an electric car this time. During the behind the scenes of the making of the commercial I realized that although Joshua can sing, his speaking voice is high, nasally, and resembles that of a 12 year old.
70 million people voted this week, and Ryan created suspense when he said after the nation wide huge vote, ten more million that last week, Phillip is headed back to the couch for more information. He is neither safe nor in the bottom three.
By the way, J-Lo was sporting a baby doll dress and she pulled it off flawlessly.
The recap of Hollie’s performance from Wednesday was uglier than Randy’s plaid suit jacket. Even though I think she should have gone home last week or the week before, I felt a little sorry for her. Just a little.

David Cook performed next and I liked it. He has a genuine quality to his singing and the song didn’t seem over produced or hyper-performed.
Ha! Ryan’s result shenanigans continue as he goes to give results, and isn’t really giving results. Funny? Clever? Not.
Jessica’s Wednesday night recap was amazing! Her Jennifer Hudson/Holiday Dreamgirls’ big song anthem (and I’m telling you I’m not going) was astonishing and memorable.
Jennifer Lopez looked as hot as ever when she performed, I say performed, not sung, because she clearly lip synched. She can dance like no one’s business and she has surrounded herself with fit, muscular agile dancers (which one is she sleeping with again?) I guess whatever one she wants to. Must be nice to have that kind of choice!

I am not sure how this ending rolled out. Did Phillip and Hollie actually end up in the bottom two or because there are so few finalists left were they chosen to stand last on stage for suspense purpose only. I find it hard to believe Phillip would be in the bottom two.
Hollie is good, but it was time for her to go home. BYE-BYE! So Long! See you Later! TTYL!
The last three finalists are smoking hot singers and totally deserve to be where they are! America is getting it right this time!
