There are music fans and then there are Queen fans.  Queen Extravaganza is a cover band, picked by the original living Queen members. For die hard fans, QE is not the same as Q, but then again if you mourn Queen, QE is a good fix.

I can’t imagine being under forty years old and knowing and/or caring who Queen is, but to be sixteen and having to sing Queen, must be daunting and terrifying. The results from Wednesday’s performance show demonstrate this.

During QE’s performance of last night’s “Somebody to Love” the camera moved so much I felt I was inside a pinball machine chasing the ball.  Why was it doing this? As Shakespeare said, the Lady Doth protest too much. In this case the camera doth protest too much.  Let’s confuse the viewers with a dizzying display of camera work, so they will think that QE is actually good. Truthfully, QE wasn’t bad, but the camera movement made me carsick.

Shortly after the opening performance the Ford music video aired.  It was one of the least creative and uninteresting videos, thus far. Then the final six went onto the set of TMZ, where they were given a crash course on how to deal with nosy publicists and negative publicity. This segment made me yawn.

Results were then delivered in pairs. The first pair was Elise and Jessica.  The galvanization of Jessica continues and Elise of course is in the bottom three and Jessica is safe.  Not a big surprise. Last year contestant Stefano then sang something, forgettable.  This guy is a looker, but not a singer.  Girls may be swooning but I was switching the channel, especially when all the dancers were added and it looked a community theater production of West Side Story.

The next pair were Hollie and Joshua, Hollie’s first performance wasn’t regarded well, but her second choice was brilliant, according to the judges. No surprise Hollie is in the bottom three.

The next commercial break featured Jennifer Lopez in a Kohl’s commercial and Steven Tyler in a Burger King commercial.  Really?

There aren’t many singers bigger than Katy Perry right now and her performance of “Part of Me” was hugely anticipated. Another break-up anthem that doesn’t have a lot of originality, it nevertheless works for her, and the production with a lot of smokes and mirrors and back-up dancers looked tight and professional.  Katy Perry is one of those pop stars that really can sing, but you wouldn’t know it because her songs and hits are buried in performance and flash. Regardless, she has the Midas Touch with song selection.

The last pair is, of course, Skylar and Phil. Of course Sklyar is the bottom three, because Phil is the pretty boy.  I thought Skylar was better than Phil, although she quickly made it to the safe couch.

I wish I had a safe couch.

The bottom two were Elise and Hollie, both have been there before. Unfortunately the voters think Hollie is better than Elise and Elise was eliminated.  The voters are idiots. Ooops, did I say that?

She rocked out with her last song. " I’m gonna give you my love."
