An American Icon

By Craig Thornton

 What a Life!

In 1938 Shirley Temple at age 10, was the seventh highest wage earner in the country. Credited with not only making 20th Century Fox Studio successful, but with helping boost he American economy during the great depression she went from being a huge child star to a diplomat and humanitarian.  She brought joy to millions and lived a life of service, humility and dignity.  She was a class act.

She remains only one of only 13 women who have ever been the biggest the box office draws of the year and she is the only actress to do it four times in a row.
