I thought the opening montage of the final three going home was one of the best edited sequences this year.
Soon the last three, Joshua, Phillip and Jessica sang a fun Beatles trio “Gotta Get You Into My Life.” It’s funny, when I sing this tune I change the lyrics to say, “Gotta Get You Outta My Life.”
When American Idol goes to a commercial after recapping Joshua’s last performances and they tease the audience to with a performance with from Lisa Marie Presley. This is supposed to bring people back from the audience? This didn’t sell me. Is she still singing?
A recording studio session featuring the final contestants and a song from the new ice age movie was mildly amusing.
Poor Lisa Marie, still trying to find something she is good at, other than being the most famous singer of all time’s daughter.
Adam Lambert was better, by the way, than Lisa Marie.
It wasn’t much of a surprise that Joshua was going home. I think Joshua is an amazing singer, but he seemed to be cracking the last few weeks under the pressure of performing constantly and being judged for singing. I noticed this because a few times, his voice cracked and he sounded like a twelve year old, which is how he sounds when he speaks and isn’t singing.
I like both Jessica and Phillip and for once the final two isn’t sending me into an American Idol rage. Well that was because I was a happy drunk when I watched last night.
