Art Cafe in St. Lawrence County
The Art Café series from SLC Arts returns Tuesday, March 4 at 7:00 pm with “You Are Here: Art, Place, and Rooted Creativity.” Jill Breit of TAUNY, Amy Hauber of SLU, Natalia Singer of SLU and Bill Vitek of Clarkson University head the expert panel exploring how our specific place and community informs creativity, art making, and tradition. The North Country has a long history of creative excellence in visual and performing arts. This conversation will provide a space for artists and interested community members to discuss issues of sustainability and environmental stewardship as they relate to creative pursuits. The March 4th Art Café will be moderated by Rebekah Wilkins-Pepiton, Executive Director at SLC Arts, and Camilla Ammirati, Program Director at TAUNY.
The Art Café series of guided conversations is organized by SLC Arts and led by working artists in the North Country. Focusing on a selected theme, artists present about their work or area of expertise, then encourage follow-up questions and conversation in an open forum atmosphere. Art Café events are free and open to the public; attendees may wish to purchase beverages or food from the hosting establishment or make a donation to SLC Arts to help support the on-going series.
The next Art Café will be held Tuesday, April 8 at 7:00 pm. Both the March and April events will be held at The TapRoom, St. Lawrence Brewing Company, 19 Commerce Lane, www.stlawrencebrewing.com.
