Bill Christopherson will teach a two-part adult watercolor class from 6-9pm Wednesdays, August 22 and 29, at the Arts Association of Northern New York gallery, 119 W. Main St., Sackets Harbor. This two-part class will take all levels of students from the initial stages of creating a watercolor painting through the final stages of completion. “WOW IDEAS” Ideas that Change your life

Andre and Judith De Zanger, Co-Directors of the Creativity Institute, will be facilitating a unique workshop at Arts on the Square on Saturday August 4, Saturday August 18
3:00-5:00pm. No registration required. Participants can attend any number of the sessions, located in the studio at Arts on the Square, 52 Public Square, Watertown.
“WOW Ideas” will focus on the power of creativity using TED Talks and group conversation to explore different “Ideas Worth Spreading”. TED Video Talks are given by experts from around the world in Science, Art, Entertainment and Design. TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading.
TED’s mission statement includes the following - “We believe passionately in the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives and ultimately, the
world. So we're building here a clearinghouse that offers free knowledge and inspiration from the world's most inspired thinkers, and also a
community of curious souls to engage with ideas and each other”. A discussion on how to use these ideas to enrich our lives and our
communities will follow each presentation.
This is a free workshop; however donations to the Arts Council are gratefully accepted. Preregister for each session in person or at Arts on

Painting and theater classes at SLC Arts Council
The St. Lawrence County Arts Council offers painting and theater classes for ages 8 to 15 this August.
Caroline Texeira, a SUNY Potsdam art student, will work with students ages 8-12 in Acrylic Painting classes on Tuesdays & Thursdays, August 7- 28 from 1:00-3:00pm. Students will explore color, light and value through acrylic paint, learning to paint what they see, mix colors, shade, and create the illusion of depth to reflect the objects and shapes around them. Classes will include both still-life painting and painting from imagination. Students who register for all six classes save $30 ($5 per class). Cost is $100 plus $20 materials fee for all six classes, or $20 plus $5 materials fee per class.
Award winning playwright Craig Thornton will facilitate a Playmaker Workshop for ages 10-15 on Saturday, August 18th from 1:00-4:00pm. Students develop and perform a mini-play including forming characters, situations, props and improvisations in this interactive workshop. Students will be the playwright, director, and actors for their mini-plays. Playmaker builds creativity and helps students understand the concepts of drama, including play structure and performance.
