Cinema 10 screens Hannah Arendt on Monday, November 18 at the Roxy Theater in Potsdam.  Show time is 7:15 PM. This is the ninth and next-to-last film of the fall 2013 Cinema 10 season.

Director Margarethe von Trotta focuses on four years of the German Jewish political theorist Hannah Arendt’s life. In the US since1941, she was assigned to cover Nazi officer Adolf Eichmann’s 1961 trial in Jerusalem for The New Yorker. Arendt’s reporting, the first draft of her book, Eichmann in Jerusalem, appeared in five articles, in which she argued for the ordinariness of Eichmann as a person--‘the banality of evil"--and suggested that some Jewish leaders cooperated with Nazi deportations. The ensuing controversy estranged her from readers and isolated her from friends. “Barbara Sukowa’s performance in the title role is the kind that reverberates long after the screen goes black” (Sheri Linden, The Los Angeles Times).

Hannah Arendt runs 113 minutes and is in English, German, French, Hebrew, and Latin with English subtitles. This movie is not rated but contains adult themes and frequent smoking.

General Admission: $4.50/individual; $35/season tickets(still a bargain for a group of 8 to 10 for this one movie or as low as a group of 4 for this and the last movie!)
