Information aobut The Crystal River Band:

(the following was not written by Craig Thornton)

On July 26th The Crystal River Band will have the full seven members plus a guest drummer from Montreal, Canada. His name is Richard Tremblay and  you will enjoy hearing him play.  Richard has played in many venues one of which was a hotel in Montreal where his band provided accompaniment for Diana Ross on one occasion and Celine Dion on another.  The Platters invited him to go on the road with them but he had family obligations and had to decline.  Xavier Cogat was one of his mentors.  Other members of the group are Dave Bristol who is the leader and plays lead guitar and does all of the music arrangements.  Cathy Bristol, Dave’s wife is lead vocalist.  Cathy and Dave have been playing and singing for many years and have been music directors in various churches they have attended.  Laura Wurtz,  Dave and Cathy’s granddaughter sings, plays violin, guitar and mandolin and writes songs. Bob Shaw vocals and plays bass and is the sound man.  Bob has played with numerous bands over the years in the Jefferson county area and is an accomplished rock and roll and jazz musician.  Candy Shaw, Bob’s wife does vocals and plays rhythm instruments.  Tom Rowe plays bass when Bob can’t make it and rhythm guitar. Tom has played in The University of Arkansas jazz band and with other groups over the years.  Linda, Tom’s wife sings harmony and picks on Dave.  She’ s really good at it too.

We formed Crystal River about three years ago and have played in churches, retirement communities, birthday parties, Bar-B-Ques and other community settings around the North Country.

We hope everyone enjoys our music as much as we enjoy playing it.
