Wow I was so happy to hear this.  The one of a kind Carol Burnett, whose hit show ran 11 years on CBS totally deserves this great honor.  I have always been a huge fan, but I recently re-examined her work and think she is totally brilliant and this is with the middle-aged critical eye that I have now.

Her personal story is amazing, growing up in a broken home, Dickensian poor, she carved a career of originality and longevity that continues to inspire.

Along with her six EMMYS and eight Golden Globe awards Carol is a Kennedy Center Honoree, has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and is inducted into the Television Hall of Fame.
