Cool Pottery Class

By Craig Thornton

Isaac Snell of Isaac Jude Pottery teaches beginning Wheel Thrown Pottery classes for community members this spring at SLC Arts. Anyone ages 14 through adult who has fewer than 20 hours of pottery experience is welcome to register.

These intro level classes take students through all of the steps of throwing on a wheel including wedging and centering clay on the wheel, throwing, trimming, and attaching handles. The teacher glazes and fires several pieces of pottery per student which are ready to pick up a few weeks after classes finish. Visit for examples of Snell's pottery.

The May session meets Wednesdays, May 21, 28, June 4 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Materials are included with class fees; financial assistance is available thanks to a grant from the Sweetgrass Foundation. Additional pottery classes are scheduled for June and through the summer. All classes meet at Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm St, room 229. Space is limited, and on a first-come, first-served basis by pre-registering. Pre-registration through SLC Arts is required: 315-265-6860,
