Cinema 10 presents Fruitvale Station on Monday, October 21 at the Roxy Theater in Potsdam. Show time is 7:15 PM. This is the fifth film of the fall 2013 Cinema 10 season.
Fruitvale Station is the story of the last day of Oscar Grant (killed by transit police in Oakland, California.) On Wednesday,December 31st 2008, twenty-two year old Oscar, “a many-sided protagonist, neither saint nor unalloyed sinner” (Michael Phillips, The Chicago Tribune) interacts with family, friends, and enemies. The VIllage Voice says that debut director Ryan Coogler, “---dramatizes Oscar's last day by choosing not to dramatize it . . . . And yet because we know how this story will end, there's a shivery, understated tension running beneath.” Fruitvale won awards at both the Cannes and Sundance film festivals in 2013.
Fruitvale Station runs 85 minutes and is in English. This movie is rated R for some violence, language throughout and some drug use.
