Great Summer Reading Program Launched

By Craig Thornton

Summer Reading Program at Carthage Free Library

Looking for something to do this summer? Join us for the Carthage Free Library’s Summer Reading Program! Sign-up for the summer program is Saturday, June 30 between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

Our Summer Reading Program runs from early July through mid August for children from pre-school age through grade 8. Sign up is based on the grade your child will enter in the fall.

Children can have fun with friends, play games, make crafts, read great books and earn fun prizes. Spending some time reading over the summer makes returning to school come fall easier!

The theme this year is “Dream Big – Read!” We’ll explore dreams for the future plus night themes- night time animals, stars and more. Programs run Mondays through Thursdays, with each day for a different age group: Monday, grades 1 and 2 from 10:00 am to noon, OR from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesdays, grades 3 and 4 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, grades 5 through 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. and pre-schoolers and Kindergarteners on Thursdays from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Due to our Library construction, this year all programs will be held in the gym at Augustinian Academy on South Mechanic Street across from the fire hall. Sign-up on June 30 is at the Carthage Free Library. If you can’t make it to sign-up day, give us a call to register your child, at 493-2620.

Come have fun with us this summer!

Carthage Free Library is open from noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, from 10:00 a. m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
