Guitar Workshop & Concert with Paul Meyers

Renowned guitarist Paul Meyers will be hosting a guitar workshop and concert this March at the St. Lawrence County Arts Council. Paul Meyers has recorded with an array of jazz greats, toured with famous jazz singers, and performed internationally from Japan to the Netherlands. He currently lives in New York City, but loves to visit the North Country!
Paul Meyers’ guitar workshop will offer four hours of instruction for basic to intermediate level guitar players; reading music is not required. Students will meet Tuesday, March 20th from 6:00-8:00pm and Saturday, March 24th from 1:30-3:30pm. The workshop will focus on the CAGED system (referring to the C, A, G, E, and D chord forms) and demonstrate how the five forms allow you to play chords, arpeggios, scales and melodies anywhere on the fingerboard. This system is especially applicable to students interested in composing and arranging guitar music. The workshop is $40 per student, and pre-registration is required. Please contact the SLC Arts Council at 315-265-6860 or to register.
Following the conclusion of Saturday’s workshop, Paul Meyers will present a concert of guitar music starting at 6:00pm. Admission is $15 per person. Both the workshop and the concert will be held in room 230 of Downtown Snell Hall, 41 Elm Street, in Potsdam. The second floor of the building is wheelchair accessible by elevator.
