It's Monday! It's Cinema Ten

By Craig Thornton

Cinema 10 screens 35 Shots of Rum on Monday, March 10 at the Roxy Theater in Potsdam.  Show time is 7:15 PM.

This is the fourth film of the spring 2014 Cinema 10 season.

In this drama of shifting relationships, a middle-aged widower finds his relationship with his adult daughter changing as he contemplates retirement and she moves toward a romantic relationship with a family friend. The director, Claire Denis, was inspired by the 1949 film Late Spring directed by Yasujirō Ozu.

Steven Rea, in the Philadelphia Enquirer, says, 35 Shots of Rum is visual poetry, but poetry that examines the human condition with insight and illumination.” Cinema 10 dedicates this showing to the memory of long-time Cinema 10 board member, Celine Philibert.

35 Shots of Rum
is 100
minutes long. The film is unrated but contains smoking, drinking, brief sexual contact, and tense social situations. The language is French with English subtitles.

General Admission: $4.50/individual; $35/season tickets
