Thousand Islands Arts Center (TIAC) will host the photography of Ken Riemer in the upcoming exhibit Light, Shadow, and Dance, opening Friday, September 13.  The exhibit will run through December 7 and will also feature textiles from TIAC’s permanent handweaving collection in a supplementary exhibit, Weavings of Harmony, Texture, and Light.

Ken Riemer is a commercial photographer based in greater Rochester, New York. Self taught in the art of photography and lighting, the artist has owned and operated his studio for more than three decades. In addition to his commercial work for a diverse client base, Riemer is often called upon to use his expertise to direct the lighting of motion picture and HD projects.

This exhibition will showcase the artist’s work photographing professional ballet dancers, highlighting his precise ability to capture the intersection of movement, light and time.  The show is reflective of Riemer’s belief that there is only one precise moment (“one tiny window of opportunity,” as Riemer articulates) when the elements of movement, light, and time intersect – and he has captured that moment in each photo that will hang in TIAC’s galleries.

On Thursday, October 10, from 5-7pm, TIAC will host an evening with the artist with wine and light refreshments.  All artwork is for sale and each giclee print is part of a limited addition of 10 prints.
