OPENING TONIGHT!

Theater and Python Fans alike: You won't be disappointed by the outrageously silly, and perfectly over the top musical "Spamalot" currently being produced by Watertown Lyric Theater presented the first two weekends of April at the Dulles State Office Building Auditorium. With a plot borrowed heavily from the 1975 film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”, dancing knights, beautiful showgirls, taunting Frenchmen, and even a killer rabbit combine with Python inspired sets and costumes to surely bring audiences to uproarious laughter. Even if you're not a Monty Python fan, you're sure to enjoy it and become one!

Original Python comedian and writer Eric Idle has created a musical unlike any other seen on stage, Broadway or local. Songs such as “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway(If You Don’t Have Any Jews), “The Song That Goes Like This”, and “I’m All Alone” pay homage to classic Broadway tunes while at the same time turning the genre upside down! Long-time Python fans will be pleased to also see the inclusion of classics “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life”, and “Knights of the Round Table”.

Directors Kevin and Marietta Kitto, coming off fresh success with “Meet me In St. Louis”, and “The Sound of Music” lead a cast full of Lyric veterans, including local music teacher Chris Autote as the venerable King Arthur. Jonathan Cole, Jim Goodenbery, Tom Piroli, and Parker Leikam portray the Knights of the Round Table as well as numerous classic Python roles. They would surely follow Arthur anywhere(almost). Scott Taylor(Patsy) and Kevin Kitto(multiple roles) help to round out the leading male cast. Allie Nettles-Casey as the Lady of the Lake fills the lone leading female "Diva" role in “Spamalot” and has no problem filling the auditorium with her incredible soprano voice featured in several songs that range from classic Broadway ballads to toe tapping tunes guiding Arthur and his knights to their ultimate goal. Audiences will also be entertained by a 12 person ensemble, all playing various singing and dancing roles.

Don't miss your chance to see this 3 time Tony award winning show "Monty Python's Spamalot"presented by Watertown Lyric Theater the first two weekends in April on Friday and Saturday April 4,5 and 11,12 at the Dulles State Office Building in Watertown, NY cocktails at 7:00pm Curtain at 8:00pm. Book and Lyrics by Eric Idle, Music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle. Presented with special licensing agreement from Theatrical Rights Worldwide.
