Weekend of May 4-6

By Craig Thornton

Kentucky Derby Party

Share in the tradition dating back to 1875! Traditional Derby fare, a ladies' hat contest, a raffle and, of course, the Run for the Roses are all part of the 2012 Kentucky Derby Party hosted by the Syracuse Stage Guild on Saturday, May 5, 4-7:30 p.m. in the Grille Room at Bellevue Country Club.

Chairing the event, a fundraiser for Syracuse Stage, is Sara Lowengard, an attorney with Macht, Brenizer & Gingold, P.C. practicing family law.

“Last year was festive, and successful in terms of raising funds for the theatre. We look forward to building upon the success of last year’s inaugural event,” said Julia Martin, Vice President of Publicity for the Syracuse Stage Guild. “One of the more popular aspects of this party, the ability to live “auction” a horse and win prizes if your horse wins, will be part of the festivities this year as well.”

Based on reservations already coming in, the Syracuse Stage Guild expects attendance to nearly double last year’s event.

Tickets for the Kentucky Derby Party are $40 per person through May 4, and $50 per person at the door. To order tickets or for more information, contact Sara Lowengard at 315-877-6578 or SLowengard@gmail.com, or send payment to Syracuse Stage, ATTN: Kentucky Derby Party.
