Mush! The Race is On! will be on Monday, February 17th, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Racer Nancy Stark will bring her six-dog sled team to the Library. Ask Nancy about the famous Iditarod race from Anchorage to Nome Alaska, a race that lasts between 9 and 17 days. Program will be outdoors and indoors.
Also on Monday, author Hope Marston will chat with visitors about the children’s book, “Eye on the Iditarod”, that she wrote with Aisling Sheperd. Aisling was just eleven years old when she began training to run her dog team in the Iditarod. Hope will have photos and talk about Aisiling’s real life story that began when she started racing at the age of five.
Author Marcus Mastin and illustrator Jamie Peck will also chat with visitors about their latest children’s book, A Mouse Named Newton, the pre-quel to “Oscar Potter and his Late Night Visitor. The latest book was co-authored by Marcus’ young daughter, Alana Mastin. The pre-quel goes back to the time long before Oscar Potter had his late-night visitor, when there was a mouse named Newton.
