Author Discusses Award-Winning Novel

A former Army brat has incorporated military family experiences and faith into first time novel success.

Eileen Parsons, who wrote "The First Rose of Summer," appeared on 7 News at Noon on Monday.

Her book received Honorable Mention at the 2013 Los Angeles Book Festival.

The main character in the novel is a young woman of strong moral character. She meets a young financial manager living a fast-paced, expensive lifestyle and makes choices that impact both their futures.

Born in Watertown, Parsons' family traveled to military installations in the U.S. and to Germany.

She said her family life and travels influenced her writing.

Her book is available at Barnes and Noble and amazon.com in print and Kindle versions.

Parsons is working on another novel and posts short articles and her events schedule on her blog at parsonspapers.com.
