'Bubbles For Backpacks' Adds To South Jeff Program
There's a new addition to South Jefferson's successful backpack program.
It's called Bubbles for Backpacks and it puts hygiene products in the backpacks along with the food that goes home with qualified students every weekend.
Girl Scout Whitney Thomas, who's also a South Jefferson student, is helping organize Bubbles for Backpacks. She says the group is looking for donations of things like bandages shampoo and conditioner.
Fred Morris, who heads up the backpack program, says 46 percent of South Jefferson students are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. The backpacks help feed them during the weekend, when school lunches aren't available.
