Healthy Christmas Stockings

Registered dietitian Cathy Moore says all parents want their children to be healthy.

She appeared on 7 News at Noon on Friday to describe ways moms and dads can promote healthy behavior at Christmas.

She says, as Santa's helpers, parents can play an important role in shaping the environments that either encourage or discourage healthy options for their children.

If Santa brings a pile of video games, they can expect their child to be a couch potato.

If, however, Santa brings gifts that encourage active play and good nutrition, children will be more fit, gain coordination and learn skills that may keep them active for the rest of their lives.
